In an interview with Bloomberg Tsunekazu Ishihara, the Pokémon CEO has admitted that he doubted Nintendo Switch’s success even before Nintendo launched it.
First Pokémon Games Launched on Nintendo’s Game Boy
Pokémon franchise had a long and solid partnership with Nintendo, having the games launched on Game Boy. Since the Game Boy appeared Nintendo has launched a lot of consoles meant for being easily transported and played on.
Tsunekazu Ishihara didn’t think that Nintendo will have much success with their new console, the Nintendo Switch. Ishihara believed that nobody would carry a game console when they can play on smartphones.
Tsunekazu Ishihara: “the Key to a Successful Game is Quite Simple”
But he admitted that his first impressions were wrong, as he realized that players were pleased with the console, as it had great software, versatile playing style and multiple uses. Right now Ishihara says that Nintendo Switch has a good potential which can be enhanced by adding more features in order to attract more users.
It looks like Ishihara hasn’t completely devoted himself to this new console but there’s official news from The Pokémon Company that state that they’re working on a new main line entry on their Pokémon RPG. The title hasn’t been yet revealed, but we know that the new game will feature finding or catching Pokémon and getting into battles.
